History
Established to Produce Advanced Silicone Chemistry for the Manufacturing Industries
of the World
What began in 1953 as an idea by two University of Florida Chemistry Professors to produce custom silicone products from the basic building block of silicone – [(CH 3 ) 2 SiO] – is today a major corporation focused on the design and manufacture of advanced silane, siloxane and silicone intermediates. SiVance is today considered a preeminent producer of specialty silicon-based technologies. The business did not achieve this leadership position by accident, but rather through the development of a fully-integrated facility in Gainesville, Florida.
The 65-acre site containing Research & Development laboratories, analytical capabilities for chemical analysis and route development, and production facilities ranging from lab scale, to pilot and commercial scale, has allowed SiVance to move innovations through the development pipeline in relatively short order. Today more than 120 employees produce hundreds of silicon-based products considered vital to the performance and value of industrial and consumer products manufactured around the world.
As silicone technology requirements have become more sophisticated in the past decade, more companies call on SiVance for the expertise required to advance the performance of their increasingly sophisticated chemistries. For example, makers of pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, and personal care chemistries work with us because of our highly flexible and broad range of silicone technologies and because of our rich history as a provider of enabling technologies. SiVance's added expertise in organic chemistry, complementing a silicone technology base, further demonstrates the Company's leadership in new organic and inorganic molecule developments made available to highly technical markets around the world.
Previously owned by Calgon, Dow Chemical, SCM Corp., and Clariant, SiVance offers market expertise to customers with its capability to produce silicone-based products no others can match in terms of performance and value. Today, as a stand-alone company owned by GenNx 360 Capital Partners, we offer all of this with no competing interests.
